A little bit more about me! 🌸 I've been sharing quite a bit about ADHD, neurodivergence, and wellbeing lately, so I thought I'd share a little more about the person behind the posts. 😊 My life has taken a few interesting turns, from growing up in Japan to living in the U.S. and Canada, running my own translation business for 25 years, and now finding a new chapter in coaching. I wrote about wabi-sabi, mistakes, perfectionism, and that awful feeling when one small mistake takes up way too much space in my brain. Kintsugi reminds us that a crack doesn’t erase the value of the whole piece. ✨ For many neurodivergent people, one mistake can quickly become: “I messed everything up.” “I have to start over.” “I should have known better.” But what if the mistake becomes information instead? What worked? What didn’t? What could you change next time? You don’t have to rebuild from zero. One mistake can become the only thing you remember about your day. The care you put in. The things you finished. The moments you handled well. Somehow, they stop counting. 侘び寂び (wabi-sabi) is a Japanese appreciation of beauty in the imperfect and impermanent. 🍁 As a Japanese AuDHD woman, I bring that perspective to how I see my own efforts. I can learn from a mistake without letting it define everything I did. In my earlier post, I shared 余裕 (yoyū): having a little time, energy, or space to spare. Yoyū gives me room to breathe. In Japanese, 余裕 (yoyū) can mean having a little time, energy, or space to spare. Time to finish your tea before heading out. A quiet moment between appointments. An evening with nothing else you need to do. 🍵 With ADHD or AuDHD, everyday things can take more energy than we expect. Having a little room left can make the day feel less rushed. Leave a little space so a hard moment has somewhere to land. Sometimes I spend so much time figuring out the right way to do something that I never actually start. Another tutorial. Another rewrite. Waiting until I feel more confident. I’m practicing letting the first attempt be something I can learn from. A rough paragraph. Sharing a post before I overthink it. Asking someone to keep me company while I begin.
